Jane Barnes was born in Bangkok. She spent her childhood travelling around the world with her diplomat stepfather, mother and two sisters, living in Australia, Italy, Russia, New Guinea, Kiribati, Malta and Malaysia. During the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown period, the singer and guitarist established her own group, the Jane Barnes Band. Performing with her husband, family members and friends in regular live performances on social media, they received more than 100 million views. Jane has put together her CookBook & Where the River Bends & with her husband Jimmy Barnes.
